Thx Pete, you're exactly right. Sorry for my error. My book calls it a
vacuum diaphragm. Your link doesn't work however, could you send it again?

The part you're talking about is a choke pulloff, not a dashpot.
Some AFBs did use a dashpot (GMs for sure) but that component is mounted on
the throttle linkage side and it prevents the throttle linkage from slapping
completely shut upon throttle release.

Thx Dave, I just looked it up at Standard and it definately the wrong =
one. Mine has an "L" bracket that is machine stamped to the dashpot it =
self and takes 2 screws to fasten it to the carb body. This is an AFB =
Carter carb #4412S.
